Our values
GOspel Centrality
Everything at RMC flows from one conviction: the gospel changes everything. The good news is that Jesus Christ lived, died, and rose again for us. This is what we believe and why we love. It’s why we welcome the stranger, serve the city, and keep showing up for one another through the hard seasons of life.
We don’t assume everyone who walks through our doors has it all figured out. Honestly, neither do we. But we keep coming back to this: if the gospel changes everything, it has the power to change anyone. That includes us. That includes you.
Gathered worship
The gospel is our center. Worship is our response. We show up on Sunday not because we have it all together, but to immerse ourselves in God’s story of redemption. We gather because the life of faith is not a solo endeavor. We need God’s Word and God’s people, week after week. We’re stronger together.
Our worship is ancient in its pattern and alive in its practice. Worship is where the gospel takes root. This is where the gospel does its work in us.
GOspel Community
Worship draws us together, and the gospel binds us. We were made for relationship with God and relationship with one another. The gospel restores both.
We believe the life of faith was never meant to be lived alone. Community at RMC is where that conviction takes shape. It’s where people who showed up as strangers find themselves known; where the weight of life gets shared; where faith gets practiced in the presence of other people, and slowly shapes everything else.
City Focus
We believe the gospel changes everything. That includes Birmingham.
We are a church in Birmingham because we believe God’s redemptive work is happening in this city, and we want to be a community that faithfully participates in that work. Birmingham carries a long and complicated history, marked by racism, injustice, and inequality, but also by resilience, beauty, and the quiet work of people committed to something better.
We want to be part of that work. Through local partnerships, through serving our Lakeview neighborhood, and through the slow, faithful work of pursuing renewal and healing, one person and one place at a time.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
This is the arc of everything we do at RMC. The gospel forms us. Worship sustains us. Community knits us together. And together we turn toward the city we call home.
You don’t have to believe all of this before you walk through the door. But we think once you do, you’ll start to see it everywhere.
Come See It for Yourself
We gather every Sunday at 10 A.M. at the Avon Theater in Birmingham’s Lakeview neighborhood.
