The Worship Experience
In our worship we aim to be biblical, accessible and thoughtful: biblical in the content and pattern of liturgy; accessible to all who attend; and thoughtful with respect to style and feel. We sing songs chosen to edify and form us, rich, intentional music that draws us into worship, deepens our prayers, and gives us words when we have none.
Our worship is shaped by an ancient pattern: we hear from God through Scripture and preaching, and we respond in faith with prayers, hymns, confession, and communion.
The service typically lasts about 75 minutes and we celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper every week.
You don’t need to know the liturgy. You don’t need to know the music. You don’t need to have the right answers or the right background or the right anything.
What you’ll find at RMC is a congregation of people who are serious about faith and genuine with each other; people who have come from everywhere and chosen Birmingham. We show up every Sunday because this is how faith is practiced, sustained, and deepened together. This is how we are formed and sent back into the world.
Children
Children are welcome to join their parents for the duration of the worship service. We love to hear children worshipping along with us. We also offer these options for children and families: Our nursery is open all morning for infants and toddlers. We have a children’s class during the sermon for kids 3K-1st grade. A nursing room for mothers is available where we livestream the service.
During the Lord’s Supper, parents are welcome to pick up their children from the nursery so that they are able to participate in communion as a family. An elder will pray over anyone not receiving communion.
Music
From the beginning, RMC has wanted worship that is both ancient and alive. Many of the hymns we sing are hundreds of years old, reminders of a faith bigger than ourselves, passed down through centuries of believers. But ancient alone isn’t enough. Our worship must also speak to who we are now and where we live. So we write new music, fresh tunes for timeless texts, set in a musical language that is genuinely our own.
We sing these songs not because they are entertaining or familiar, but because we believe they form us. They stir our minds, hearts, and wills. They teach us to worship, deepen our prayers, and give us words for joy, for grief, for doubt, for gratitude, when we don’t have our own. It’s rich, it’s layered, and it asks something of you.
Beautiful poetry. Robust theology. Sung together, week after week.

Not at all. Everyone is welcome. If you’re exploring faith for the first time, we’d love to have you.
We’re a Presbyterian church (PCA) with Reformed convictions. If that’s new territory, don’t worry; we’re happy to explain what that means.
You’ll find a wide range of attire, so it would be hard for you to be over- or underdressed. Just come as you are.
We follow a liturgical pattern: a call to worship, prayer, confession, Scripture reading, preaching, and communion. Services last about 75 minutes.
Communion at RMC is open to all baptized Christians who have professed faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Children are welcome in the service. Nursery is available for birth through 3 years, and we offer a children’s class during the sermon for 3K through 1st grade. Check-in begins 10 minutes before the service.
We sing a mix of traditional hymns, re-tuned hymns (old texts set to new tunes), and modern hymns from artists like Sandra McCracken, Porter’s Gate, and Cityalight.
Come say hi after the service, or reach out through our contact page. We’d love to connect.
